Why not turn your holiday party into help for friends?
"A small house will hold a hundred friends" - African Proverb
Those of you who know me know my mantra: offer help first, ask for help second. So, why not offer the gift of food and networking this holiday season? If you are gainfully employed, have the means (money) and want to help friends who are unemployed, think about this idea: Stretch your holiday party invitation list to people you know and like outside your family and close friends (why not aim for 100 people?) ... and let the merriment begin. Adopt someone who is job hunting, throw the party in his if her honor.
Why not be shameless and call it your "Get Jim, Joe and Mary back to work holiday party?" Any excuse to come break bread together is a good one. Throw it out there, make an ice breaker where people get to think up crazy fun jobs for your job-hunting friends ... and I promise the real ideas will start to flow. And remember: our house does not have to be big or fancy to create a fun and wonderful holiday party.
